Patreon Summary for May 2019

The following is copied from my May summary from my Patreon Campaign. I have gotten significant writing finished, and I’m prepped for an even better June. Here is the summary from Patreon.com/cjeub.

This is one of several posts concerning "public smearing," and I am leading a Patreon Campaign to fully address this most important issue. You may read my public posts here, and consider becoming a patron to this good work:

May was my first full month of the Chris Jeub Patreon Campaign. We grew from six to nine Patrons, totaling $92/month in support. Patrons have been enormously helpful.

My current project Facing Hate: Dealing with Social Smearing from the People We Love took a significant turn early in the month after scrapping the first three chapters and prologue (see “I Don’t Like the First Chapters”). I was eager to vindicate my family and declare innocence, and the tone was not coming across as well as I had wanted. This is perhaps the hardest hurdle to clear when facing my hateful social smear, especially for a “debater” like me. However, I need to keep true to the purpose of the book, to tell my story rather than rebut my daughter’s, and formulate the needed warrant against any social smear.

I’m in talks with a professional editor, the same editor who worked through two of my books in the past. He hasn’t quite signed on yet, but I sure hope he does. He’s working through the rewritten Prologue to make it a sharper piece. I plan to make the Prologue public in June to help promote the greater campaign.

I will be traveling a lot for my business in June, but I am committed to finishing the greater story by July (through Chapter 7). As planned so far, the book will be seven chapters of storytelling, three chapters of solutions, and an appendix. Chapter 3 released at the end of May (see below), which leaves me four more chapters to finish the greater story. It’s quite good, and I can’t wait to share it with you, my Patrons.

  • Introduction (May 2, 2019) This is available for Patrons to read and give feedback. Investors get editing privileges.
  • Chapter 1: The Truth (May 6, 2019) – We didn’t publicly respond to the social smearing, but we did among our friends. Here’s what we said and did.
  • I Dont Like the First Chapters (May 9, 2019) – A great author once said that to be great takes the willingness to be able to throw away half of your hard work. I’m doing the same.
  • Honing in on the Greater Message (May 12, 2019) – I ripped up hours and hours of work and rewrote the beginning of the book. I release it tomorrow…and you’re going to like it much better.
  • Chapter 1: Blessing and Anguish (May 13, 2019) – This is Chapter 1, a rewrite from the original written last month, a much better approach to handling our painful story.
  • Quotes, so far (May 18, 2019) – I’m getting ready to post Chapter 2 to my Patrons, and here are a few that are sure to resonate.
  • Chapter 2: Its Not Complicated, but It Is (May 20, 2019) – Absurd claims get scrutinized in a court of law, but they are rewarded online. This is the tragedy for the Jeub family.
  • Two Needed Edits (May 28, 2019) – Chapter 3 is very close, telling the story of our three “escape routes” following our smear. I need to seek permission from someone first.
  • New Prologue (May 29, 2019) – The editor of my book suggested I create a “hook” at the beginning to broaden the impact of my message on social smearing. Here it is.
  • Im in the Gazette Again (How Social Smears Dont Go Away) (May 29, 2019) – Social smears stick with you, as evidenced in today’s Colorado Springs Gazette. I’m referenced yet again.
  • Chapter 3: Lean In (May 31, 2019) – I found that leaning into the hate — the mountain-like problems that seemed impossible to move — helped plot a plan of eventual escape.
